I was sent this message today from a long time reader of my website. It is so humbling to know that Enma has touched people in a way as to make them do amazing things.
“Let me first say I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful daughter, Emma.
I have been handing out the Emma cards for a short while. I have also been stalking the page to see if the ones that I gave out would appear. Today, I was looking through the stories and as I was reading one I realized that the girl was the girl that I gave a card to. I read through the story and I burst out in tears and a smile. I know that paying it forward and making someone else’s day is what makes it all worth it. But after reading that story, I now know that sometimes there may be more to it. You could be potentially helping someone get through a difficult path in their life. I had no idea that the 6th grader I met at the nail salon ever felt like harming herself. I had an idea of her being depressed. I know at 12 I went through that awkward stage too. Had I known what I just read I would’ve stayed there. I would’ve hugged her a little longer. I am completely floored at the impact that paying it forward has had.
We are traveling on a vacation right now and we are paying it forward at nearly every stop. We gave been buying $5 gift cards at each place we stop at and handing then to random people in the parking lot with an Emma card.
Thank you so much for sharing your memories and stories with us. Emma continues to make a huge difference in the world. 💖💖

Love,
The lady with the hot pink zebra nails”
