I asked a friend that I hadn’t seen in months to go shopping with me. The weather was miserable outside but she agreed to go and brought her 15 year old daughter with her who was looking for a good, sturdy pair of basketball shoes. When we were done shopping the daughter noticed I had bought some cosmetic brushes and she gushed over them. Her mother said she didn’t need any but I could tell she felt otherwise. Emma would have bought her some brushes. When I had the opportunity to return to the store two days later I bought the brushes and put one of Emma’s “gift card” inside and gave it to her. She was ecstatic to receive them and her smile was from ear to ear. Emma scored.
