I try to give some food/supplies to one family each month i hear of or see on one of our local free/giving pages, and on sat it was a young couple about my 22 year old sons age, the gal was sick with bronchitis, seeking:easy to eat” food, meds, and advice to get better. they lived quite close to me, so I loaded up on soup, crackers, juice, hot cocoa, cough drops, vit c drops,, etc and took a couple bags over. they young man came down to my car, thanked me, and we chatted just a couple minutes. He told me his GF had been sick for 5 days now, was on antibiotics, but still not over it, and he hoped this would help her feel better. he reminded me of my own son, such a sweet face.

I checked on her the next day, and we got to texting back and forth for about a half hour. I asked if she was off work still, she said yes, i said, well, i imagine you are not getting paid, she said no, and i said let me know if need more soup, etc, she stated could use a roll or 2 of tp, since was using it to blow her nose so much, etc.. and I just kept seeing that sweet boys face, and knew I was going to help… so, i asked for a list of items they were low on, and offered to help… i knew Emma was in my heart to help them.

so what I did not have in my stockpile, I went to the store, and loaded into my cart… lots of fresh fruit and veggies, more soup, meats, sides, plus the cat food and tp from stockpile, etc etc. I felt so good in my soul. I got in line,, pulled out my coupons( all learned from following paul and tiffany!!) and waited my turn. the lines were long, and the lady in front of me was obviously having a rough day… she was in tears, wiping her face, calling someone who was not answering, etc… her turn came, she put a few things back right away, and then came time to pay. she began to look around, and said her son was supposed to meet her, she had been trying to call him, he had the cash, so she would try her card. she knew she had money, but not much. declined twice, and the cashier kept giving me “I am sorry glances” i was calm, and in no hurry…. the 3rd time, as the lady was asking the cashier to try lower and lower amounts on the car, it worked… and she said, ok, well I will have to put the rest away… so, what did I do? well, I did what Emma would do of course, I said, how much does she still need? and I paid the difference, and then went on to deliver a full weeks worth of food and lots of other supplies to those young kids…. i need to print more of Emma’s cards, I am out now… but her legacy lives on, and now many folks know of her…. and her good works continue…‪#‎forouremma‬
