We were thinking of what act of kindness we could do for Emma, and then while cleaning we stumbled upon a hand written recipe for divinity. Mom told us the story of how she used to work with this nice old lady in the church history museum in Utah. She said that she used to go over to her house on Saturdays to learn how to make old fashioned candy. We thought that as our act of kindness we’d send her a thank you card. Sadly, when we looked her up, we found out that she had passed away in March. For the last two years of her life, her daughter had taken her in, even when she got alzheimer’s. We were touched, and thought that we could send a copy of the recipe, our story, and a tin of divinity to the daughter to showed we cared. It took three tries to get the recipe right! First we burned the sugar, then we over beat the eggs, and it came out too grainy before we got that heavenly candy correct. When mom called the daughter to get her address and kind of explain, she started crying. Apparently, she was trying to get bits of her mother’s life she didn’t know about to write her mother’s biography. She had known her mother had worked at the church history museum but not what happened there. We were glad that we could share my mom’s story and help answer her prayers. #forouremma
