I went to school armed with a bag of tootsie rolls, and Emma’s note cards. My mom knows Emma’s mom, and we thought it would be a great idea to hand those out to everyone. So throughout the day I handed those out, and then when we went to lunch, when we were sitting there, I noticed that a classmate looked upset. My friends told me that she had just found out that her mom had breast cancer. My grandma had cancer, and I knew how hard it was to have a family member have that. So thinking of Emma, I grabbed a big handful of tootsie rolls, and determinedly walked over there. I went over there and asked her what was wrong. I gave her that pile of tootsie rolls, and made sure she was okay, then went back over to my lunch table to eat lunch. I know that I can’t make everything better, but I hope that it made it a little bit better for her. I am really glad that my mom had me bring those tootsie rolls, and I am really glad that even though I didn’t know Emma, she helped me find a way to reach out to someone in need.
