Last night we heard of a family in need. The family does not live here and the husband was only here for a week for business. While here he suffered a torn aortic rupture. He was rushed to the hospital and with a 2 percent chance survived. He was healthy before any of this happened. There is no way you can prepare for that. His wife came into town with her two year old daughter and has been trying to be up at the hospital with a 2 year old all day with no idea if her husband is going to make it or if he does whether there will be lasting consequences to his lower limbs. They are here for 4 days until he is moved to their hometown. I heard the news through our church with the idea that we could set up someone to take her daughter each day and possibly provide meals or any other assistance. My house is pretty set up for little girls so I gave her a call and my older girls commented that if we took her for the next few days (instead of trading off with others) she might be able to get to know us and be less scared jumping from house to house. It could be our Emma service for the month. When the wife came this morning she introduced me to her little 2 year old….who happens to be named Emma.
