When Emma passed away, your story came up in my newsfeed. I don’t even know why it showed up, because I don’t follow you or anything……it was definitely God. I have 6 children and one is a 15-year-old girl who is completely amazing like your Emma. Every time you post, my heart breaks for you again. My mom passed away 14 years ago, and I’ll never forget my Grandma. She said it doesn’t matter if your child is 2 or 52 when they pass away. It hurts just the same. And I remember my granddaddy……….laying on the bed SOBBING when he found out Mom’s cancer had returned. It’s a sorrow too deep to express in words.
So last night, I went to a Sports Outreach banquet. I had read your post earlier in the day about the website and had been thinking about it. I didn’t have any idea who the speakers would be or what they would talk about. They were a couple from California. In 2005 their son, Andrew, had just graduated high school when he tragically passed away. They started a scholarship fund (Andrew Popp scholarship) for children living in the slums of Uganda, Kenya, and other countries. They said that nothing could ever fix the sorrow and pain of losing their son…………but now there is a separate reservoir of joy they are able to be a part of. I watched the videos of these precious kids who would otherwise be unable to attend school. Some have graduated college and are teaching physics and math! I gave money in Emma’s honor. I hadn’t been able to print out her card yet, but she was the reason I gave.
You know many people are lifting you up in prayer. I can’t fathom the depth of the valley you will continue to travel through, so I will just continue to pray. In the picture, my 15-year-old is 3rd from the left.
