Small gestures add up

I have been touched by your website and find myself visiting often when my heart needs a boost of kindness.

I received an Emma card from the AkaMom’s LuLaRoe #blessing. A simple extra pair of leggings. I remember watching Holly casually lift them from the pile and place them in my envelope. I was touched for late December is a weary time after weeks of shopping for others – it was nice to have something special for myself. That little Emma card was tucked in the package and so powerful…..I saw it every morning when I opened my dresser to get ready in the morning.

We tried our best to fill December with kindness. We brought toys to a donation for the local children’s hospital for kids who couldn’t go home for the holiday. We made a holiday meal and brought it to the food pantry. We dropped off a bag of warm clothes to our local shelter. We brought in winter gear to a collection run at my school and also donated holiday gift bags for their charity store.

One morning as I got ready to meet up with a local mom to purchase some swimwear for my daughter I knew I needed to stop at an ATM and I knew $25 wasn’t going to be an option at the ATM. I thought of going into the bank for change but was not sure if I had time. I knew this mom would have her son in the car and did not want to risk being late. Instead I remembered that emma card and went inside to grab it. I took $40 out of the ATM and gave the mom the $40 and the card.

It was a small gesture but I know many moms who sell items as their children grow out of them to make space and recoup money. I hope that small amount of extra money made their holiday a little easier and that it gave them a boost and a smile as they prepare to pay it forward…..and I hope they get a chance to read Emma’s story.
