We were only 2 hours away from our destination in a 17 hour drive to see family for the holidays. We were about 25 miles out from the nearest town when we saw an older man with his thumb out next to a car. We were going too fast to immediately stop but Ben, my husband, looked at me and said, “we haven’t done our Emma service this week.” We turned around. It ended up being an older gentleman with his wife. They had just purchased the used car and were driving it home and it had run out of oil. The gentleman asked if we could go the nearest town and ask if a service station or auto store would drive out to help him. He would come with but didn’t want to leave his wife. We waited with him and called around to different locations until O’Reillys said they would drive someone out. (He didn’t want us driving there and back with our little kids and kept telling our kids we were good Samaritans). We drove into the town and Ben stopped at the O’Reillys to make sure they had already sent someone and then he called an hour later to make sure they still weren’t stranded. They were on their way again.
