Today we stopped to have breakfast at Chik-Fil-A and as we sat down we saw an older gentleman just finishing up his meal all alone at a table nearby. He wore a World War II Veteran cap and kept smiling at my two younger girls running up to the counter by themselves to get lemonades (it took several trips). My husband started to tell my oldest about her great grandfather who served in that war and how a great kindness in memory of Emma would be to go up and thank the gentleman for his service and talk to him a little (we were sad we were too late to buy his meal but my husband helped him with his tray). They went over while I helped the littles clean up and then we all went to talk to him. He was so nice! It turned out he served in Japan and the Philippines and seemed happy that someone was interested in their grandfather and great grandfather who had also served. It only took a few minutes of our day but what an amazing lesson for our girls to remember to thank our veterans! In the end I think he did more of a kindness for us
